Aug. 12


11:04 p.m. Mount Vernon Police officers received a report of the attempted theft of a bicycle in the 1500 block of N. LaVenture Road. The owner was able to retrieve it from the suspect.


Aug. 14



11:31 a.m. A male, approximately 6-feet tall, wearing a black hat, black sweatshirt of a print T-shirt, black pants and white shoes stole a package of bathroom tissue valued at $11 in the 1300 block of Riverside Drive. He left in a black sports car.



Aug. 15



1:01 a.m. A sweatshirt and a package of bubble gum were stolen from a vehicle in the 3200 block of Martin Road.



Aug. 16



1:40 a.m. A 34-year-old male was exiting a business in the 300 block of E. College Way when someone threw a glass bottle, hitting him in the head. A fight ensued. The suspect left in a vehicle. The victim was taken to Skagit Valley Hospital with two large swollen areas on the left side of his forehead and a small laceration to the same area.



Aug. 17



10 a.m. A mirror was taken from and swear words were scratched into the side of a vehicle in the 2200 block of Old Highway 99 S. Road.



Aug. 18



9:48 p.m. A white male stole a case of Natural Ice Beer valued at $10 from a business in the 800 block of Cleveland Avenue.



Aug. 19



12:07 p.m. Officers received a report that a homeless man was hanging around 300 Block of Myrtle Street. He had a shopping cart and spread his things around. The caller would like officers to ask the homeless man to move along as he is becoming a nuisance.



8:44 a.m. A caller in the 800 Block of S. 25th reported that when she went to her vehicle in the morning, she discovered the passenger door had been left unlocked and someone had rummaged through her car. Missing items included a child’s portable DVD player, five DVDs and an empty prescription bottle for Valium.



4:19 p.m. Construction equipment valued at $8,500 was stolen from Summerlynd Lane off Hazel Street.



Aug. 20



11:55 a.m. A red- and gold-colored Specialized racing bike valued at $500 was stolen in the 500 block of N. Sixth Street.
