MOUNT VERNON — Burlington-based Interwest Construction could be the winning bidder for the first phase of the LaVenture Road extension project.
Mount Vernon staff will ask the City Council to accept bids today from Interwest, the low bidder on the road project, and Sumner-based Everson’s Econo-Vac, Inc., the lowest bidder for a separate sewer line project.
The council’s meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Police and Courts Campus, 1805 Continental Place.
The sewer work, bid at $60,000, includes cleaning and inspection of roughly 63,000 linear feet of sanitary sewer pipe.
The roadwork will extend LaVenture Road from Fowler Street to Blackburn Road. Second and third phases, which are not yet fully funded, would reconstruct Anderson Road between Cedardale and Blodgett roads and extend Anderson Road from Blodgett Road to Blackburn Road.
Interwest’s bid for phase one was nearly $1.4 million, putting it almost $270,000 below the engineer’s estimate for the work, which is partially funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
