The Mount Vernon track team returns one state competitor to this year’s group.
Sophomore Tia Brogna, who placed eighth at state last year in the 200 meters, will again suit up for the Bulldog girls’ team. Joining Brogna will be a number of returnees, including Alyssa Bangs (pole vault), Kathryn Benson (distance), Caitlin Gusa (hurdles), Kayla Johnston (distance), Adrianne Ridenhour (jumps), Haley Tellesbo (undecided), Emily Noste (throws) and Hillary Johnson (jumps, throws).
Boys’ returnees include Eric Anderson (distance), Josh Crandall (sprints), Keiran Faley (multiple events) and Ethan Garrison (distance). Throwers Eric Holmstrom and Joey Garrison should have an impact in the throwing events, coach Dave Riddle said, while Nathan Gloman (multiple events), Nate Minor (distance), Kenny Packard (throws), Max Robison (hurdles) Andrew Stach (jumps) and Andrew Stailey-Young (distance) will also return for the Bulldogs.
Riddle said it’s difficult to tell if any newcomers could be difference-makers for the team.
“Overall we have a good group of kids back this year,” he said.
