Five members of Burlington-Edison’s Class 2A state championship softball team have earned all-state honors.
The five were selected by the state’s media on teams compiled by the Tri-City Herald.
Infielder Rachelle Berry and outfielder Ashlynn Ishikawa were named to the 2A first team, pitcher Lindsey Dawson landed on the second team and infielder Amy Entrikin earned honorable mention.
Burlington-Edison’s Darcy Taylor was named 2A coach of the year.
Also earning all-state softball honors were Sedro-Woolley pitcher Maddie Lynch-Crumrine (first team, Class 3A), Anacortes catcher Maria Roney (honorable mention, Class 2A) and La Conner pitcher Samie Miller (second team, Class 2B).
Smith an all-state second-teamer
Concrete’s Chris Smith earned second-team honors on the Class 2B all-state baseball team.
The senior made the squad as an infielder.
Three other area players earned all-state honorable mention honors.
Sedro-Woolley infielder Bobby Twedt Jr. took honors in Class 3A, while Burlington-Edison catcher Dylan Boe and Burlington-Edison outfielder Tyler McLeod earned honors in Class 2A.
Two named to soccer squads
Two area boys’ soccer players earned all-state honors.
Mount Vernon midfielder Rene Caro made the Class 3A second team, while Burlington-Edison defender Andrew Furney earned honorable mention in Class 2A.
