Sedro-Woolley's Maddie Lynch-Crumrine is the Northwest Conference Player of the Year.

Maddie Lynch-Crumrine helped the Sedro-Woolley softball team into the Class 3A state tournament.

Now she and her coach have also landed on the all-conference team.

Lynch-Crumrine was named player of the year in the Northwest Conference and Laura Schmidt was coach of the year.

Fellow Cubs Bailey Brewer and Cheyenne Best were named to the all-conference first team.

Other first-teamers included Burlington-Edison’s Lindsey Dawson and Rachele Berry, Mount Vernon’s Alicia Fine and Ally Kutz, and Anacortes’ Tara Bellusci, Sara Brennan, Madison Bundy and Maria Roney.

Mount Vernon players honored

Northwest Conference boys’ soccer champion Mount Vernon placed five players on the all-conference first team.

Making the top unit were defenders Ivan Ocampo and Ricky Rodarte, midfielders Rene Caro and Cesar Marin, and forward David Navarro.

Marin and Navarro are seniors, while the other three are juniors.

They helped the Bulldogs into the Class 3A state quartefinals.

Mount Vernon coach Tony Dabbs was named co-coach of the year.

Other first-teamers included Burlington-Edison’s Andrew Furney.

Sonnichsen takes over as head coach at Prosser

Former Mount Vernon football coach Benji Sonnichsen has landed a new gig.

Sonnichsen, who coached the Bulldogs from 2005 to 2007, has been named coach at Prosser High School.

Tom Moore, who helped the team to four state titles since taking the job in 1986, stepped down in the offseason.

Sonnichsen, a Prosser graduate, was an assistant coach at the school before coming to Mount Vernon.

He was also an assistant at Prosser for the 2008 season.

Feeder games on Wednesday

The Andrenaline NW Regional Senior 2A-3A All Star Feeder Baseball Games will be held Wednesday at Joe Martin Field in Bellingham.

The games will begin at 5 p.m.

From the set of games, 10 players will be nominated for the all-state games June 13-14 in Yakima.
