Stanwood's Brittany Jeans is an all-Western Conference North Division first-teamer.

The Stanwood softball team has cleaned up on the all-Western Conference North Division team.

The Spartans, the division champion and a state tournament qualifier, had eight players honored.

On the first team are junior pitcher Brittany Jeans, and three-quarters of the Spartans’ starting infield — sophomore second baseman Tori Kriegel, senior shortstop Jordan Nemo and senior third baseman Carly Bosse.

Stanwood had three players named to the second team — first baseman Corinne Stillman, catcher Sam Bingham and outfielder Lyndsay Burrows — and Shawna Hochstetler take honorable mention.
Oak Harbor had four seniors named honorable mention.

The four are Kayla Ratliff, Lauren Miller, Kaylee Meders and Kim Mowbray.

Area pair named to first team

Stanwood’s Brandon Thomas and Oak Harbor’s Jay Stout have earned first-team all-Western Conference North Division baseball honors.

Thomas is a senior outfielder and Stout a sophomore outfielder.

Among those making the second team are Stanwood’s Tomas Enquist and Michael Vaughan, and Oak Harbor’s Yale Rose.

Honorable mention picks included Oak Harbor’s Kian Mebane, Samuel Wolfe and Brad Farnum, and Stanwood’s Nic Jacobs, Walter Thomas and Enquist.

Top soccer players honored

Stanwood and Oak Harbor each had two players make the all-Western Conference North Division boys’ soccer first team.

Stanwood was represented by defender Jorge Garcia and goalkeeper Dalton Alumbaugh, and Oak Harbor by defender David Moore and forward Kevin Flavin.

Among the second-team picks were Stanwood’s Kody Henderson, and Oak Harbor’s Jack O’Neil, Ryan Fakkema, Greg Wolfe and Golf Brooks.

Oak Harbor’s Marcos Anjos earned honorable mention.

Players picked for games

Fifteen area players have been selected to play Wednesday in the Andrenaline NW Regional Senior 2A-3A All Star Feeder Baseball Games.

The two games will begin at 5 p.m. at Joe Martin Field in Bellingham.

The National roster will include Sedro-Woolley’s Matt Zitkovich, James Murillo and Ryan Morgan, and Anacortes’ Marcus Abbott.

The American roster will include Burlington-Edison’s Ian Capron, Zach Livingston, Quinn Holt, Tyler McLeod and Troy O’Neill; Mount Vernon’s Ryan Knight and Colin Findley-Meier; and Sedro-Woolley’s Travis Serna, Nathan Regal, Jake Howland and Bobby Twedt Jr.

From the set of games, 10 players will be nominated for the all-state games June 13-14 in Yakima.

Kutz plays in all-star contests

Mount Vernon softball player Ally Kutz went a combined 3-for-6 on Sunday at the Senior All Star Challenge in Kent.

Kutz played catcher against West Central, going 2-for-4 and scoring the only run in the Northwest’s 2-1 loss.

Against Eastern, Kutz went 1-for-2 with a stolen base while playing shortstop in the 4-1 win.

REFINERY OPERATOR Tesoro is currently seeking to fill the position of Refinery Operator at its Anacortes facility. An Operator monitors and controls refinery process equipment while working a rotating 12-hour shift, often outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
