LA CONNER — For two innings, the winless Concrete softball team put a scare into the undefeated La Conner Braves.
The remaining eight belonged to the Braves, however, and La Conner stayed undefeated Friday with a pair of Northwest 2B/1A League victories.
The first game ended up as an 18-8 La Conner victory, while the second was an 11-1 Braves win. Both games were stopped after five innings by the 10-run rule.
Concrete led the opener 7-3, roughing up La Conner starter Samie Miller with seven hits over the first two innings. Brandi Dellinger and Tori Semro each scored twice in the first two innings.
Miller settled down from that point, and didn’t allow an earned run the rest of the game. She also got the Braves on the scoreboard by crushing a three-run homer off the scoreboard in left field.
The Braves (6-0 league, 12-0 overall) also took advantage of 16 walks, scoring 10 runs in the fourth inning on just one hit.
“I was pleased they pulled it together and played better,” Braves coach Peg Seeling said. “I think pitching was the difference today.”
Miller stayed strong on the mound in the second game, scattering six hits and allowing just a first-inning run.
“The defense really played well in the second game,” Seeling said.
