PSE will make presentation to MV council

MOUNT VERNON — A Puget Sound Energy representative will give the City Council and mayor an overview of electrical service in the county at Wednesday’s council study session.

The presentation follows last week’s talk from Dave Johnson, general manager for Public Utility District No. 1 of Skagit County. Johnson discussed several feasibility studies about the public provision of electrical service in the county.

Currently electricity is provided by PSE, but this November, voters will be asked if the PUD should be allowed to pursue electricity as a public utility. The ballot question follows a proposed merger between Bellevue-based PSE with the Macquarie Consortium, an international investment group based in Australia.

Wednesday’s study session is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Police and Court Campus, 1805 Continental Place.
