SEDRO-WOOLLEY — The City Council voted unanimously tonight to put a $2 million Fire Department bond on the Nov. 4 general election ballot.
If approved, Sedro-Woolley residential property owners would pay about $17 a year per $100,000 in assessed valuation. However, there would be tax breaks for low-income residents, Finance Director Patsy Nelson said.
The bond would pay for a fire engine, a ladder truck capable of reaching at least 103 feet into the air and most of a new fire station on Portobello Road, City Supervisor and Attorney Eron Berg told council members before the vote.
The station is expected to cost $1 million, with $750,000 coming from the proposed bond and the remaining $250,000 from fire impact fees and real estate excise tax.
