STANWOOD — Kale Schmidt scored a game-high 15 points and led for Stanwood players in double figures as the Spartan boys’ basketball team beat Cascade 66-50 on Saturday night in a Western Conference North Division game.
The Spartans outscored the Bruins in every quarter except the second.
“I think we had a little letup in the second quarter,” Spartans coach Zach Ward said.
Jordan Solvberg added 14 points, Kyle Hushagen 11 and Zack Johnson 11 for Stanwood (3-2 division, 5-4 overall).

MONROE – Mike Washington Jr. had 19 points, but the Wildcats couldn’t overcome Tim Ohlsen’s 18 points and a last-second defensive stand from the Bearcats.
Oak Harbor dropped to 0-4 in the Western Conference North Division, 1-7 overall.

OAK HARBOR — Nicole Mowbray’s career night helped the Wildcats to a division win after a long layoff.
Mowbray scored 27 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead Oak Harbor to a fast start and an improvement to 2-1 in the Western Conference North Division play.
Jessica Denmon added 17 for Oak Harbor (5-2), which outscored Monroe 18-6 in the first quarter.
“We wanted to get off to a fast start, and that’s what we did,” Oak Harbor coach Brett McLeod said. “Our confidence grew from there.”

EVERETT — Brenda Bingham led the Spartans with 10 points, but the Bruins were too much as Stanwood dropped the Western Conference North Division game.
Paisley Heckman and Renee Lucero added seven points apiece for Stanwood (1-5 division, 3-7 overall).

Burlington-Edison Team Dual Tournament
BURLINGTON — The Tigers wrestled five dual meets at the tournament and won all five in a successful return to the mat after a long weather-related layoff.
“The team wrestled really well for not being on the mat so long. It was nice to have all the guys where they should be ... it’s the first time we’ve had a full lineup,” Burlington-Edison coach Kirk Hamilton said.
Burlington-Edison beat Lakewood 69-7, Sehome 58-8, Marysville-Pilhcuck 63-16, Stanwood 37-19 and Elma 41-33.
