Skagit County search and rescue workers launched two searches Wednesday in the North Cascades Mountains for two missing men. One was successful; one was not.
On Wednesday, family members of a 59-year-old Shoreline man reported that they hadn’t heard from him in over a month.
State Patrol had impounded his car, a Nissan pickup, near Marblemount on June 19. His debit card was also used in the town around the same time, according to the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office.
The man was an avid fisherman, but his fishing gear was left in the truck, said Will Reichardt, chief criminal deputy with the Sheriff’s Office.
Officials searched all around the truck and along the Skagit River in the area with a cadaver dog Wednesday, but found nothing.
“It’s just a mystery right now,” Reichardt said.
About 8 p.m. Wednesday, a 61-year-old Edmonds man called the Sheriff’s Office, saying he was lost in the Darrington area, Reichardt said.
Rescue workers attempted to find him through the night. Just after noon Thursday, a helicopter spotted the man with his dog waving for help in Deer Creek Pass, between Darrington and Concrete, Reichardt said.
The man was mildly dehydrated, but otherwise uninjured.
