BURLINGTON — Seth Jensen provided all the relief the South Skagit National squad needed Saturday to reach a district Little League championship game.

Jensen threw five innings of one-run relief — and hit a two-run homer — to help his squad come from behind to beat Sedro-Woolley 9-6 in a battle of the last two unbeaten teams in the Little League majors district baseball tournament.

Sedro-Woolley will face Central Whidbey, which eliminated Burlington-Edison, at 12:30 p.m. today. The winner needs to beat South Skagit National twice to claim the title. The first of those games will be at 6 p.m. Monday, with a second, if necessary, on Tuesday.

Sedro-Woolley held a 5-1 lead after one inning, taking advantage of a pair of South Skagit errors and a two-run single from Nicholas Doorn.

Jensen took over from there, striking out eight and giving his team a chance to rally.

South Skagit closed to within two at 6-4 heading into the sixth, then scored five times to take the lead for good. Jensen smacked a two-run homer and David Vogus completed a 3-for-3 game by driving in Gaige Baisch with the go-ahead run.

“Our kids just exploded in that final inning and our bench really contributed,” South Skagit coach Matt Russell said. “It was just the kids not giving up. That’s three games in a row where our bench has come in and given us big help.”

Roland Ferral went 2-for-2 and drove in three for South Skagit. Baisch also had a pair of good plays in center field, Russell said.
