KEYSTONE — Ferry service between Keystone and Port Townsend was expected to be restored at 6:45 p.m. today after the Steilacoom II was repaired.
Washington State Ferries officials canceled the run between Whidbey Island and the Olympic Peninsula starting at 11:20 a.m. today, because an electrical control unit on the ferry’s auxiliary generator failed.
The part needed to repair the ferry had to be shipped by the vendor to the ferry terminal, said Hadley Greene, a Ferries spokeswoman.
Ferry customers were asked to take the Mukilteo-Clinton and Edmonds-Kingston routes instead of their usual ferry run. However, service is to resume about 12 hours sooner than expected.
