Officials anticipate that as many as 5,000 people will attend a memorial service in honor of fallen Skagit County Deputy Anne Jackson on Tuesday.

Gov. Chris Gregoire is scheduled to attend, along with law enforcement officials from across the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia, said Erica Work, public information officer for the Deputy Anne Jackson Memorial Planning Team.

The service will take place at the Burlington-Edison High School football field at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Students will be released from school at 11 a.m.
The location was believed to be the largest venue in the county to handle the large crowd expected. Jackson’s family and the Sheriff’s Office wanted to hold the memorial in Skagit County, Work said.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to one of the following charities: the U.S. Pony Club, Concerns of Police Survivors, the 10-99 Foundation, the Washington State Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation or the Skagit Valley Humane Society.

The multi-agency team heading the investigation into the six homicides and four assaults in Alger and on Interstate 5 Tuesday is closing the phone line for tips at 4 p.m. today.

Meanwhile, services for some of the other six victims have been scheduled. They are as follows:

• A memorial service for Greg Gillum will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hawthorne Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 1825 E. College Way, Mount Vernon.

• A memorial service for Skagit County Sheriff’s Deputy Anne Jackson is scheduled at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Burlington-Edison High School, 301 N. Burlington Blvd., in Burlington. For more information about the memorial visit the Skagit County Web site at http://www.skagitcounty.net.

• Funeral services for Julie Binschus will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Bethel Assembly of God Church in Sedro-Woolley. Interment will follow at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery.
