STANWOOD — Kalina Eveland scored a pair of goals as the Stanwood Spartans improved to 5-3-3 on the season Tuesday with a 2-0 shutout of Oak Harbor in Western Conference North Division action.

Haley Haugstad had the shutout in goal for the Spartans, who are tied with rival Arlington for third in the North Division standings, though Stanwood has played one fewer game. The top four teams reach districts.

ANACORTES — Anacortes fell to 5-4 in Northwest Conference play and 6-6 overall.

“We played hard, but we didn’t play very effective,” Anacortes coach Ken Welk said. “Bellingham made us look a little behind the pace, but I think we learned a great deal from playing Bellingham.”

BELLINGHAM — Two second-half goals helped the Storm sink the Bulldogs.

“We had chances to tie it in the second half, but it was one of those nights where nothing went right,” Mount Vernon coach Gary Warman said. “You can’t fault their work ethic.”

Mount Vernon fell to 6-3 in the Northwest conference and 9-3 overall.

FRIDAY HARBOR — Sydney Hartwick scored the Braves’ lone goal in the Northwest 2B/1A League loss.

Hartwick scored on a penalty kick in the 70th minute.

La Conner is 4-3 in league play.

MOUNT VERNON — Michaela Michael scored a pair of goals, Rachel Freemen added a goal and an assist, and the Hurricanes rallied from two goals down with three quick scores for the Northwest 2B/1A League victory.

Mount Vernon Christian coach Randy Vis said Freeman really took the game over in the second half.

“It was really her decision to win this game,” he said.

Vis said Katie Hoag played well in goal for the Hurricanes (4-3 league, 5-5 overall).

SHORELINE — Mount Vernon Christian’s David Riley scored to tie the Northwest 2B/1A Leauge contest, but late goals by the Crusaders sealed the win. It was the Hurricanes’ first league loss.

Hurricanes coach Robert Adeline said his team pulled several players forward to try to tie the game after trailing 2-1 at halftime and that allowed Shoreline Christian to score late goals.

The Hurricanes are 4-1 in league and 9-3 overall.

LA CONNER — Abi Hedlund led La Conner with nine kills Tuesday as the Braves swept Mount Vernon Christian 25-8, 25-8, 25-9 to remain perfect in Northwest 2B/1A League play.

Lauren McClung added six kills, five blocks and two aces for La Conner (8-0 league, 10-0 overall). Anna Thostenson had five aces and eight assists.

“I think we just came out really focused tonight,” La Conner coach Suzanne Marble said.

Janell Schloemer had five kills for the Hurricanes (1-7 league).

ANACORTES — The Seahawks swept the Northwest Conference match 25-14, 25-10, 25-13.

Everybody got to play, so that was good,” Anacortes coach Ashley Abrams said.

The Seahawks (6-2 conference) had 24 team kills.

BELLINGHAM — The Bulldogs got just enough done when they needed to in the 22-25, 26-24, 25-10, 23-25, 15-9 Northwest Conference victory.

Mount Vernon (7-1 conference, 7-2 overall) finished with 49 kills and 12 aces as a team despite being shorthanded due to injury.

“Our No. 2 hitter is out, so other girls had to compensate,” Bulldogs coach Debbie Guildner said. “It took a little longer to find the rhythm that we needed. They really hung in there and did a great job of working things out themselves.”

MONROE — Kyle Koetje won at No. 1 singles and the Spartans won three of four singles matches in the Western Conference North Divison win over the Bearcats.

Koetje beat Trevor Ansberry 6-0, 6-0, Trevor Eigen beat Tim Meeks 6-4, 6-0 and Kyle Kline beat Dylan Heffner 6-1, 6-3.

In doubles, Chris Gilmore and Jeff Epperson beat Adam Nelson and Sam Shelfout 6-4, 6-1 and Gage Pepin and Zach Carroll beat A.J. Robertson and Drew Hopper 6-0, 6-2.

BURLINGTON — The Tigers swept the doubles matches and took two of four singles matches to claim the Northwest Conference victory in a makeup contest.

Etienne Luiten and Carson Thompson at No. 1 doubles played a close match, overcoming a first-set loss to win 4-6, 6-0, 6-4.

“They rose to that occasion and became very aggressive and played the net a lot,” Tigers coach Asher Cohen said of the team.

Chris Stilwill and Will Stewart were winners at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively.

The Tigers are 5-4 in conference and 7-7 overall.

MOUNT VERNON — The Bulldogs won two of the three doubles matches in the Northwest Conference contest.

Sean Wells and Kevin Sutherland combined for a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles for Mount Vernon, while Ryan Landingin and Justin Sturdy won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3.

Cameron Addison had the lone singles win for the Bulldogs, taking the No. 3 match 6-2, 7-6 (4).

MUKILTEO — Katie Kaestner won twice for the Seahawks in the non-conference loss.

Kaestner finished first in the 50 freestyle (25.29 seconds) and the 100 breaststroke (1:10.65). Also winning for Anacortes were Jenna Whitney (1:08.97 in the 100 backstroke) and Rosie Jenssen (1:08.35 in the 100 butterfly). The Seahawks also won the 400 freestyle relay (4:05.4).
