ANACORTES — The Burlington-Edison girls’ track and field team won its 42nd straight dual meet, its third straight Northwest Conference title and posted its third straight undefeated regular season Wednesday, all in a rain-shortened meet.
Chelsea Genther won two hurdle events, the Tigers won all three relays and Burlington-Edison topped Anacortes and Bellingham on a day when several field events were not held because of rain.
The Tigers beat Anacortes 90-65 and Bellingham 104-45 to improv to 9-0.
“That’s a big accomplishment,” Burlington-Edison coach Kevin Gudgel said of the girls’ feats.
Genther won the 100 hurdles (15.7 seconds) and 300 hurdles (52.2), and the Tigers won the 400 (51.2), 800 (1:53.6) and 1,600 (4:26.2) relays.
Teira Graham won the javelin throw (102 feet, 2 inches) and high jump (4-6) for the Tigers.
Long jump, triple jump and pole vault were wiped out by weather.
