Woman badly injured in Hwy. 9 accident

A 65-year-old Acme woman was in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after a one-car accident on Highway 9 this morning, according to the State Patrol.

Shirley A. Shanander was driving a 2001 Toyota Corolla southbound near Fruitdale Road north of Sedro-Woolley when her car crossed the centerline and went off the road and came to rest on its top, according to the State Patrol.

Shanander was taken to Skagit Valley Hospital with injuries, then flown to Harborview where she remained today.
