As he declared himself guilty and cursed at the judge, the man accused of killing six people and wounding four more appeared in court Tuesday for a second time since his arrest on Sept. 2.

“Guilty, guilty, guilty, guilty,” Isaac L. Zamora said over and over as he entered Skagit County Superior Court.

“Can you hear me? I’m guilty,” he said.

As Judge Mike Rickert read the 20 felony charges against him, Zamora interrupted to say, “get on with it.”

When the judge continued, Zamora cursed at him.

The brief hearing was to read Zamora his rights and the formal charges against him in connection with the Alger slayings that have left Skagit County rattled and grieving.

When asked by Rickert if he was 28, Zamora answered “Who knows these days.”

When the judge said that the charges carry the possibility of life in prison or death, Zamora said, “Take death.”

Zamora, of Alger, was arrested following a high-speed chase southbound on Interstate 5, the same day the slayings occurred. He remains in Snohomish County Jail on $5 million bail.

During his first court appearance on Sept. 5, Zamora said, “I kill for God, I listen to God.”

After the first hearing, Zamora’s attorney Keith Tyne told the Skagit Valley Herald that such statements indicate there are “significant mental health issues at play.”

He declined to comment on Zamora’s Tuesday statements.

Investigators say Zamora fatally shot six people, including a Skagit County sheriff’s deputy who was responding to a complaint that Zamora was breaking into homes, according to an affidavit filed Monday in Superior Court. The wounded include three who were shot and a fourth who was stabbed, investigators said.

Zamora faces six counts of aggravated murder in the deaths of Deputy Anne Jackson, 40, Chester Rose, 58, Julie Binschus, 48, and Greg Gillum, 38, all of Alger; David Radcliffe, 58, of Clear Lake; and Leroy Lange, 64, of Methow. Prosecutors also charged Zamora with six counts of attempted murder, including the shooting of a State Patrol trooper who pursued him.

Also filed were a count of first-degree robbery, in connection with the taking of Radcliffe’s pickup, four counts of burglary, two counts of theft of a firearm and a count of unlawful possession of a firearm.

His arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 9.
