Nail spa altercation could end in assault charges

MOUNT VERNON — A 48-year-old nail technician could face an assault charge over a dispute with a teenager about a set of 1-inch long, pumpkin-orange fake fingernails.

The nail technician from Mukilteo denies she grabbed the 13-year-old Burlington girl. But the technician said they argued…

And to think if that 13 year old hadn’t behaved like such a spoiled brat, this wouldn’t even be an issue.

Seriously, who throws that big a fit over a set of fake nails not matching perfectly?  And what kind of mother lets her kid treat a hard-working employee that way?  Shame on them both.

Unbelieveable the kind of crap that becomes charges against people.  Don’t the PA have other things to deal with other than a brat not getting her way!

I agree! Beyond spoiled. Who in their right mind is willing to spend $30 on fake nails for thier 13 year old daughter? Please....Then allows them to behave in a way that requires the police to be called in. Will that child ever have respect for a hard-working adult? I seriously doubt it. Probably spends her time walking all over her mother too.

I can certainly understand being disappointed at not being able to get the design that you picked out...but having the police called because of it? Some parent the mother turned out to be. Sounds like grandma wasn’t much better either.

Now if the nail tech did grab the girl, that isn’t OK either. If the mother/daughter/grandmother refused to make payment for a service that had been rendered at that point...telephone and 911 should have been the only thing she was grabbing.

Seriously?? It’s the teenagers fault because the “technician” didn’t do her job and make sure she had the product she was selling?? Pa-leez!!
The customer picked out the design she wanted from a selection that was offered to her and then most of the way through is told she would have to have something different. I would be angry too. Waste my time and try to waste my money and I get understandably miffed. I wouldn’t pay full price either. The fault is solely with the “technician”. 20 years on the job hasen’t seemed to help with planning good service.
If she actually grabbed the minor, she should be charged and sentenced nd lose her “technician“‘s licence. Shame on her and her employer.
I hope that this serves as a reminder to retail businesses that the customer is always right. If you don’t like it....go dig a ditch.

gassmann, being angry is well within a person’s rights when a deal doesn’t go as planned.  It’s not necessarily a good choice, but it’s definitely a choice nonetheless.  Not paying for services rendered, however, is illegal.  I doubt the woman grabbed the girl, but I could understand how she might lose her temper with such a bratty little child.

We’re not talking about a huge change in plans for the nail design either.  80-90% of what was agreed upon was possible.  The technician was willing to do her best to make the other 10-20% work as well, but thanks to this kid’s entitlement complex, she threw a gigantic immature hissy fit when she could have been working with the technician to get something “good enough.”

Shame on Mom, shame on Daughter.  I sure won’t want to be around when that little girl realizes the world does not revolve around her after all.  It’s not going to be a pretty picture.

The only ditch being dug here is the one for this girl’s future as a mature, responsible adult.  Sad thing indeed.

On one heckuva brat.  Yup.  I hope Mommy has to pay the other $20 she owes the nail technician.  Poor gal is seriously just trying to do her job.  It’s a tough economy, and Mom & Daughter would rather pitch a fit about not getting “perfect.”

There was a similar altercation at a local mexican restaurant that I happened to witness.  Daughter ordered a smoothered burrito, ate part of it and then complained that it had pork, she ordered chicken.  The mother threw a major hissy fit, caused quite a scene before she walked out without paying a dime.  For any of the meals! The police were called on that too.  Talk about trying to stiff hard-working people.  WOuld love to know if it’s the same mother and daughter......

What are these parents teaching these children?

1. I can throw a fit and get what I want.
2. I can treat people (especially adults), any way I want with no consequenses.
3. The world is supposed to revolve around me and only me.
4. I don’t have to pay for things if I don’t want to.
5. Respect? Your supposed to respect me, not the other way around.

Isn’t the little darling going to be a marvolous example of an upstanding citizin when she grows up?

Life is full of disappointment and compromise because of that disappointment. The sooner a child learns to deal with that in their life, the easier it will be for them to cope.
