Relatives plead not guilty to federal drug charges

SEATTLE — Four Burlington family members pleaded not guilty in a federal court Thursday to charges of conspiracy to distribute cocaine.

Jose Venegas, 33, his wife Nereyda Yasmin Perales, 26, and Venegas’ two brothers Javier Perales-Venegas, 40, and Juan Perales-Venegas, 34, were…

It kinda of makes you wonder? How long were these four dealing and how much did they sell brfore they got caught? A little town like Burlington with drug dealers capable of delivering large quantities of cocaine on demand. How does that happen? How can these four family members do that? How many other drug dealers are there in little Burlington? I’ve got a funny feeling that this group of drug dealers will be replaced by another group of drug dealers. Who will also have the connections to deliver large quantities of drugs on demand too. Gee, I wonder what is the root problem here?

there isn’t enough cops to deal with the Amount of Drugs and crimes that do happen in this small town. that is what I feel is part of the problem
the other part is that the cops here don’t get paid enough I am by no means saying this is a bad area I love this county but yes the drugs are out of control and I think if we had more cops we would be able to get the streets back.
Seattle has a drug task force but does Skagit???

This is how it works; the illgals come to work for the agricultural businesses, the gangs that deal drugs blend in with the illegals to prey on them and the community that supports them. The politicians don’t want to anger the ag-business or other businesses that exploit illegals so they do nothing. The police are restricted by the politicians on how far they can go to stop the illegal problem, the gangs, and all that profit from the illegals. So the politicians think that if you aren’t making a stink of this they don’t have to do anything. The problem is it won’t go away and it won’t get smaller. This problem is going to get bigger. The first step in solving this problem is to get rid of the current politicians and replace them with ones who will do something about the illegals, drugs, and gangs.

you are right until someone dies Like a child or a cop is killed by a dealer or a tweeker and then what happens who is to blame??
the cops get blamed it isnt fair and we all know it isnt right but hey as long as no one knows no one can say different right WRONG the ones to blame is the ones who are selling the drugs giving guns to the gangs and standing by while this small quite area is taken over by the drugs and the dealers and allowing the kids here to be killed
when I was in school the MVHS didnt and still dont have locker because of the drugs that were being stored IN the schools
the police have no say in the job that they are being paid to do because they are told to look the other way

A HUGE part of the problem (in all counties) is that for some silly reason...PROFILING is no longer allowed as a tool for law enforcement.  They can’t stop you if you “look” like a drug dealer or gang banger, or you “seem” suspicious, to check you out.

At some point, we all profile to a certain extent.  And before someone jumps on the race issue - this is NOT about race.  We profile up as well as down.  eg. A very well put together, mid age female in an expensive suit, wearing expensive perfume - A man on a corner wearing tattered jeans & t-shirt with a few teeth missing - 4 young men in a parking lot, taking turns going up to different cars that have driven in and quickly leaving - a mini van in front of you in a fast food drive thru - a young couple in a Subaru - a man leaving a bar, staggering to his car.

Bottom line - unless you give law enforcement the TOOLS they need (their experience, their knowledge, their contacts, their gut feelings) to do their job, the drug problem will only grow.  There is wayyyyy too much money (i am talking THOUSANDS a day) to be made for the slight risk of maybe going to jail for a few years - if there is room for you.  And that is just for the little drug dealer.  Millions for the big guy!!!  They will not give up their lucrative career, unless forced to.

......Or, have the Gov. take over ALL drugs, make them legal to buy and tax the heck out of them!!  Our Gov. is in the process of owning everything else, might as well go for the drug trade as well.  ((*.*))

assume that i am a younger member of the audience (above 18, under 21)

I think that i will bring to the table a different way of thinking, and living that many of you have yet to encounter in this oppressive, brainwashing world.

People should be allowed to make whatever choices they want about their own bodies and be allowed to ingest whatever they want, becuase we are simply humans living/coexisting with other species on earth.  IT IS WRONG FOR ANY HUMAN TO HAVE POWER OVER ANOTHER. which seems to be what this country is all about.  But if we were presented actual true facts (not the biased bs government info) about all substances, and no substances were prohibited, maybe we wouldnt have a drug problem where cartels are corrupting our small towns.

and if you guys wonder if this is scratching the surface, from what i have seen and used around here, you guys wouldnt believe the area.

ALSO, there is nothing more depressing then how alcohol and tobacco are legal while other mind altering substances are not.  You middleaged adults sit around popping your vicodin (which ruin your liver) drinking your drinks (which distort your judgement and ruin your health) and scoffing at what society has become.  Society is the way it is now because of how you guys and your parents lived before you.

hologram, I wouldn’t go as far as comparing tobacco and alcohol to acid, meth, heroine, cocaine, etc. as beer isn’t laced with tobacco and vise versa and people don’t generally rob other people to get a 6-pack of Coors.  You know why?  Because, and this is just my opinion, these illegal narcotics are much more powerful than tobacco and alcohol.

Your different way of thinking doesn’t sound much different from my uncle, who is a paranoid schizophrenic who lives in my grandma’s basement doing meth all day with his “friends”.

I’m not saying you do this yourself.

and your right no one robs people for alcohol because its legal. but people just get hammered and then drive and slaughter someone on the road, or abuse their significant other or children.  thats okay right?

Im going to first assume that you dont have a varied knowledge of the drugs you “name dropped”.  Grouping the beneficial hallucinogenic LSD/acid(beneficial: http://www.hofmann.org/papers/martin_1.html) with such horrible drugs as meth and heroin. The usage of heroin and cocaine that i have seen around here is pretty astounding to me.  And i dont support that in any way, but i think that it comes with being human to let people make their own FREE choices.  With complete, honest, proper education and knowledge.  Our species loves altered states of consciousness, and its not in the peoples best interests to enact prohibition on such things; which in turn causes them to be traded on the black market where the risks are much higher (purity, weapons, etc).  It just doesnt make sense to persecute ourselves instead of acknowledge and empower.

The usage of psychadelic mushrooms was the most significant event of my life.  I feel so much more of an individual after my experience, and was able to come to grips with some issues i had within my self, and i also was able to move beyong the childish belief of an ego.  I know MANY (40+) people in person who feel the same way.  And the online communities discussing things of this nature are astoundingly large.

No one has ever died from marijuana use… ever.
So going off that fact alone we can see the system we currently have in place is flawed since people are dying EVERYDAY from alcohol and tobacco use.  THC even naturally helps fight some types of cancer cells.  (google: “thc, cancer")

and your right no one robs people for alcohol because its legal. but people just get hammered and then drive and slaughter someone on the road, or abuse their significant other or children.  thats okay right?

I dont think we have a problem with pot, or acid, or shrooms here in the county.  I smoke weed, and can rarely find it as is.  As far as coke and meth go, we need to transfer the reward for pot growers into a reward for meth and coke dealers.  Lets give a 100.00 reward for turning in meth and coke dealers.  The users of these products can barely keep their mouths shut as is, and would certainly snitch on their own mother for another bag.  LEOs can make the bust and then follow the tipster to the next drug house and bust them also.  Being someone who once used alot (ALOT) of meth, and having been away from it for almost 20 years, I can say it is a demon, and must be stopped by any means neccesary.
As far as prescription pills go, you would be amazed how many people think that a pot head is going to hell and deserves prison for the way they choose to unwind all the while these people are drunk all day on wine and popping pills for any reason..
