Skagit County sheriff’s deputies stopped a pearl-white Cadillac De Ville belonging to homicide suspect Derek Collier around 6 p.m. Tuesday, but Collier remains at large.

The car was seen by deputies traveling along Chuckanut Drive close to Bow Hill Road.

Whatcom County Superior Court has issued an arrest warrant for Collier on second-degree murder charges in the May stabbing death of Bow resident David L. Datskiy along a Bellingham roadside.

Deputies on Tuesday stopped the vehicle, which was being driven by a friend of the Collier. The driver did not have a license and was arrested after officers realized there was a warrant for his arrest in an unrelated felony.

The driver did not know Collier’s whereabouts, said Skagit Sheriff’s Chief Criminal Deputy Will Reichardt.

The car was impounded by the Bellingham Police Department.

Bellingham police ask that anyone with information about Collier’s whereabouts call investigators at 360-778-8827 or 360-778-8823. After 5 p.m., call 911.
