A Fisher & Sons employee died last week from head injuries he received from a construction accident at the Janicki Industries building site in Hamilton.
The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on June 20 when an I-beam fell at the construction site killing Caine Covert, 34, of Big Lake, Fisher & Sons officials said. The site is located near Highway 20 and Cabin Creek Road.
Covert was airlifted to United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley. Another worker was treated at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon for non-life threatening injuries and released.
Covert worked as a job superintendent and had been with the company for 15 years. He was the husband of Erica Covert and the father of two young children.
Construction was stopped after the accident and investigators from the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office and the state Department of Labor and Industries examined the scene.
Fisher & Sons is the primary contractor for the new Janicki Industries facility.
