Routine repairs to remove rubber, repaint runway markings and upgrade lights at Ault Field began this week and will continue through the end of the month at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, according to a Navy press release.

Under single runway operating conditions the air station is limited to take-offs and landings in only two directions, based on the prevailing wind at the time.
While Runway 14/32 is closed for repairs through July 10, planes can only take off and land heading either east or west. This means that landing approaches and departures will be over western Skagit County, Mount Vernon, La Conner, northern Island County and Lopez Island more often than normal.

While Runway 7/25 is under repair July 11-31, planes can only take off and land heading either north or south. This means planes are more likely to use a landing approach that brings aircraft over northern Camano Island and eastern Oak Harbor.
