ANACORTES — Crowds lined the sidewalks and poured into the road like a sea of red, white and blue Friday as the Fourth of July parade made its way up Commercial Avenue.

Bands, corvettes, antique cars, bicycle riders, patriotic dogs and horses and even star-spangled walkers were among the attractions. Many children took part in the parade, some riding floats and others riding bikes. But even more stood ready as the paraders passed by throwing candy and beads.

Children bring bags to collect all the loot each year.

The day had started around 10 a.m. for the town photograph, a group shot taken each year right on Commercial, with the photographer perched high in a cherry-picker.

After the parade, many residents headed to Causland Park for the patriotic ceremony.
