GUEMES ISLAND — A pipe bomb was discovered in a small building for ferry passengers on Guemes Island Sunday. The State Patrol determined the bomb was real, and detonated it without further incident, Trooper Keith Leary said.

The bomb was reported by a passer-by at 12:48 p.m. Sunday, according to a dispatch log from the Skagit County 911 Center. Authorities have no suspects in the case. The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

The bomb was housed inside a six-inch galvanized pipe, Leary said.
