July 7
5:04 p.m. Mount Vernon Police officers received a report of theft in the 800 block of Cleveland Avenue. A 50-year-old Mount Vernon man was cited for theft in the third for attempting to shoplift beer valued at $10.
July 9
9:36 a.m. An air compressor and an engine hoist were stolen in the 1100 block of Dale Lane. Loss was valued at $1,000.
July 10
5:10 p.m. A 33-year-old Mount Vernon woman returned home in the 200 block of N. 23rd Street to find the lock on her front door damaged. Damage to the lock and door was estimated at $350, but the deadbolt lock prevented entry to the home.
10:07 p.m. Officers made a traffic stop on a 1996 Dodge Caravan in the 800 block of Cleveland Avenue. The vehicle came to a stop in a parking lot and the driver fled on foot. As officers were pursuing the fleeing suspect, the passenger drove the van away without permission of the officers. K-9 tracked the suspect to the 400 block of Milwaukee where the van was also found. Officers took the passenger into custody and will be sending a summons to the driver for driving while license suspended in the first and obstructing.
July 11
10:07 a.m. The exterior locks on the doors of a business in the 500 block of S. First Street were broken to gain entry to the business. Approximately $1,000 in merchandise was stolen. Evidence was collected at the scene.
July 12
3:29 a.m. Several vehicle windows and the front window of a business in the 100 block of E. Lind Street were broken out.
9:26 a.m. A boat motor valued at $700 was stolen from a boat in the 1200 block of S. 11th Street.
July 13
11:08 a.m. A 1998 Ford Ranger parked at Edgewater Park in the 600 block of Behrens Millett Road, was entered through an unknown method. A bag of tools valued at $1,000 was stolen from the locked canopy.
3:26 p.m. A 1993 Ford Escort in the 100 block of Valley Mall Way was entered through an unlocked door. A purse containing two cell phones was stolen. Loss was valued at $40.
July 14
9:17 a.m. A DVD player and game systems were stolen from a 2005 Dodge Caravan in the 2000 block of Riverside Drive. Loss was valued at $400. There was no sign of forced entry.
4:26 p.m. A 1991 Ford Escape in the 500 block of E. College Way was entered through an unlocked door. An amplifier and some CDs were stolen.
July 15
6:38 a.m. A 1992 Oldsmobile and a 2003 Ford Windstar in the 200 block of S. 29th Place were entered through unlocked doors. A stereo and some loose change were stolen. Loss was valued at $132.
