The town of Lyman will receive a $200,000 grant to purchase and renovate the historic Minkler Mansion.

The grant is from the Heritage Capital Project Fund, a state fund that provides grants toward the acquisition and preservation of historic sites in the state.

Lyman ranked third out of all grant recipients in the state.

The Minkler Mansion will become Lyman Town Hall once the purchase and renovation of the building is complete.

“We really want to thank the state fund and the Skagit County Board of Commissioners for helping us preserve a piece of Skagit County’s history for future generations,” said Lyman Mayor Debra Heinzman in a released statement.

The town of Lyman applied for several grant applications for the project, which remain pending.

Lyman officials are asking businesses and community members to contribute to the project by purchasing a commemorative brick or paver.
