ARLINGTON — The 37-year-old principal of a private Arlington school was accused Wednesday of raping a 14-year-old student.
The Arlington man is charged with third-degree rape of a child. Earlier this week, the girl told detectives she had sex with her principal after she ran away from home and slept at the school, according to a Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Detectives began investigating when the girl’s parents reported her as a runaway in June. Apparently, the principal allowed her to sleep at the school during that time rather than reporting her to authorities, the release states.
The girl told investigators that the sexual contact occurred while she stayed at the school, the release states.
The principal was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on Wednesday and is being held on $100,000 bail.
