SEDRO-WOOLLEY — The motorcyclist who died on the scene of a two-auto, two-motorcycle accident Wednesday evening has been identified as 21-year-old Anthony M. Burwell of Burlington.
Shawn R. Tygret, 34, of Concrete was airlifted to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries from the accident on Highway 20 east of town. He was listed in critical condition this afternoon.
Philip Brown, 64, of Burlington was driving a Toyota pickup westbound around 6 p.m. when he crossed the center line and struck a Buick, driven by Tygret in the other direction, four miles east of Sedro-Woolley near Hoehn Road, according to State Patrol Trooper Bob Wilson.
Brown, who received minor injuries, is being investigated for vehicular homicide to determine if alcohol was involved, according to the State Patrol.
The two motorcyclists, Burwell and 31-year-old Concrete man Robbie Tygret, were behind the Buick.
The Toyota pickup struck the Buick partially head on, then struck Burwell riding his motorcycle head on, according to State Patrol. The Buick rotated, causing the motorcycle driven by Robbie Tygret to hit the Buick.
Burwell’s motorcycle caught fire and became engulfed in flames. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Robbie Tygret received minor injuries and was treated on the scene.
Shawn Tygret, who drove the Buick, was airlifted to Harborview.
Brown, whose Toyota came to rest in the embankment, was transported to United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley.
