Members of the Fidalgo Island Boxing Club competed in a Canadian tournament last weekend. They are from left, front row: Martin Bernal and Eric Castillanos who had to bow out due to an injury right before the fight; back row: Sean Maher, Coach Leonard Johnson, Doc Barron, Antonel Cruz and assistant coach Fred Norg.

Nine-year-old Martin Bernal was looking for his fourth straight win in a row when the Fidalgo Island Boxing Club of Anacortes headed to Canada last weekend.

He got it, and was awarded a trophy for Best Fight of the Night out of 14 bouts.

The Canadian Business Association invited the boxing club to its November tournament after meeting members at several U.S. meets.

All Anacortes boxers won their fights.

Doc Barron won the main event of the night and stopped his opponent in the first round.

He continued his two-year undefeated record.

Other winners were Sean Maher, making his amateur boxing debut and Antonel Cruz, coming off his first win with Fidalgo Island Boxing at the Shriners tournament in Everett.

In January the team is headed to the Junior Golden Gloves in Tacoma.
