A community meeting to discuss the proposed elimination of the Anacortes to Sidney ferry run is 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7 in the City Council chambers at City Hall.

The international run is shut down in Gov. Christine Gregoire’s proposed biennial budget and in one of two options in the Washington State Ferries draft long-range plan.

Next week’s meeting will address the impact of the decision, provide contact information and lay out a plan of action, according to Duane Clark of the Anacortes Ferry Advisory Committee.

The decision affects local governments, businesses, organizations and individuals, Clark said.

A WSF meeting to discuss the draft long-range plan is the following week 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15 at the Senior Center.

The plan is available at http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/planning/ESHB2358.
