A man has been charged with murder in the slaying last spring of a Ferndale man whose body was found on Blanchard Mountain.

Skagit County authorities announced this afternoon that Kenneth McBride, 34, of Lebanon, Ore., is charged with premeditated murder.

The victim, 38-year-old Jeremy Scully, had disappeared last April while driving from his Bellingham apartment to a friend’s house in Alger. His car was found days later near Lake Samish with the door ajar and the key in the ignition. The next day, three hikers found his body in the woods. Scully had been shot in the head.

Scully was a substitute teacher in Ferndale and assistant track coach at Ferndale High School.
