ANACORTES — The City Council will close its public comment period today on $134,741 in federal grants for various projects, such as modifying up to 20 homes to make them more energy efficient.
The funding will come from the Community Development Block Grants and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. in City Hall, 904 Sixth St.
It also will hear an update on the local farmers market and discuss the Anacortes Historic Preservation Board’s proposal to add four city-owned properties to the municipality’s register of historic places.
Causland Park, the Great Northern Depot (now called the Depot Arts Center), and the W.T. Preston and the Carnegie Library, which both serve the city as historic museums, are currently all on the National Register of Historic Places.
The preservation board is asking the council to add them to the Anacortes register. The council will likely take action on the proposal at a later meeting.
