BURLINGTON — Prepare for closures at the Interstate 5 and Cook Road interchange this week.

The state Department of Transportation warns drivers that the overpass, including on- and off-ramps in the north and southbound directions will be closed nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday for paving.

“The road surface is badly worn and cracked. The new asphalt will make the overpass smoother and safer for drivers and reduce the need for routine maintenance,” a DOT news release stated.

“Drivers will be detoured around the closure by the Chuckanut Drive (exit 231) and Bow Hill Road (exit 236) interchanges,” according to DOT.
