Seven seats remain open in Skagit County even after more than 100 candidates filed last week to run for dozens of positions with city and town governments and on commissions for sewer, school, cemetery, fire and other districts in this fall’s election.
In Island County, three seats remain open.
Both counties will have a three-day special filing period for seats that did not draw any filers.
In Skagit County, the Auditor’s Office will accept candidate filings in person from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today through Thursday.
No online or mailed filings will be accepted, Skagit County Elections Supervisor David Cunningham stated by e-mail.
The Island County Auditor’s Office will hold a filing period for the remaining open seats June 15-17.
