Burlington-Edison wins to advance to semis

The Burlington-Edison boys' basketball team used a second-half surge to power past Cheney in the Class 2A state semifinals on Thursday 62-51, good for a spot in Friday's state semifinals.

Jake Anderson scored 17 points in the second half and 20 overall, Kolby Arendse notched 14, and a pair of sophomores came up big for the Tigers, with Colin Stewrt scoring 11 and Evan Coulter adding nine.

Arendse added six steals to help lead the Tigers' defensive effort.

Burlington-Edison outscored Cheney 36-25 in the second half.

The Tigers will play at 8:00 p.m. Friday for a spot in Saturday's state finals. They will face the winner of Port Townsend and River Ridge.
