SEDRO-WOOLLEY — Sedro-Woolley High School hopes to have a new head football coach soon — maybe as soon as this week.

Athletic director Todd Torgeson said the Cubs are hoping to name a new coach by Friday to replace Doug Preston, who stepped down after three seasons at the helm.

Torgeson praised Preston for the job he did coaching.

“He’s been in the game an awfully long time and has done a great job coaching. He just decided it was time to spend more time with his family,” Torgeson said.

Torgeson said Sedro-Woolley is looking for an enthusiastic head coach.

“One of things we’re looking for is a coach with lots of energy who can go out there and get the kids excited about playing football,” he said.
