Burlington-Edison High graduate Cash Stone will be inducted into the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association Hall of Fame next month, the WIAA announced Thursday.

Stone, who lost just one wrestling match in four years at Burlington-Edison from 1951-54 and went on to wrestle at Skagit Valley College, is being honored for his 38-year coaching career at Mead High School. During his tenure from 1959-1997, his teams won two state championships, eight regional, 13 league and 15 district titles. He coached 10 state champions and 60 state placers.

In 1983, the year Mead won its first team title, Stone was named the Washington State Wrestling Coach of the Year and the WIAA Coach of the Year.

Stone has also been inducted into the National Federation of State High School Associations Hall of Fame, the Inland Empire Sport Hall of Fame, the Washington Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame and the National Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame (Washington Chapter).

The 11 inductees of the Class of 2008 will be honored at a ceremony April 16 at the Spirit of Washington Events Center in Renton.
