Officers were called to the Anacortes Ferry Terminal several times this week.

On Sunday, April 13, U.S. Customs agents turned over a 54-year-old California woman at the Ferry Terminal after learning she had a $50,000 warrant out of San Diego for grand theft. The woman was arrested around noon without incident and booked into the Skagit County Jail on an investigative charge as a fugitive from justice.

On Monday, April 14, U.S. Customs detained a 29-year-old Lynnwood woman suspected of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Officers responded around 3:30 p.m. and cited the woman.

Officers were summoned to the terminal again Monday when a man and woman were reportedly fighting on the ferry around 6 p.m. The La Conner couple was detained by officers until the Washington State Patrol arrived to investigate. Incidents on the ferries are under the jurisdiction of the State Patrol.

Friday, April 11
• Officers contacted a 46-year-old Anacortes man at his residence in the 3700 block of West Sixth Street at 10:40 p.m. at the request of a state community corrections officer. The corrections officer believed the man may have been drinking in violation of the terms of his release. Officers administered a portable breath test and forwarded the results to the Department of Corrections.

• A 33-year-old Bothell man was arrested on a charge of DUI after an officer stopped him for speeding on Commercial Avenue near 21st Street just before midnight. The officer smelled alcohol on the driver’s breath and asked him to perform field sobriety tests, which he allegedly failed. He was arrested and transported to the office for a breathalyzer test.

• A woman reported her $250 black LG flip cell phone was stolen at the Fidalgo Pool on March 23.

Saturday, April 12
• An 18-year-old Anacortes woman was arrested after a vehicle she was a passenger in was stopped for an equipment violation in the 2300 block of M Avenue around 1:15 a.m. The officer smelled alcohol coming from the vehicle and the driver and other occupants were all over 21. The driver was not impaired.

• A resident in the 2900 block of Q Avenue reported two young men fighting in the area around 4 p.m. Officers contacted the men, who had already gone their separate ways. A 20-year-old man reported he was angry with his 26-year-old friend because he thought the other man acted inappropriately with his girlfriend. Both men appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Neither man wanted to press charges.

• A 36-year-old woman was arrested at her boyfriend’s residence in the 1000 block of 16th Street for an outstanding warrant out of Skagit County Superior Court for theft.

Sunday, April 13
• A 12-year-old boy was bitten by a dog in the 800 block of 37th Street while walking by the residence. The wound did not require medical attention. The animal control officer is following up on the incident.

• A woman visiting family in the 4100 block of Kingsway reported the windshield of her car had been shattered overnight. It did not appear the 2005 Hyundai had been entered.

• A resident in the 1500 block of Burrows Court reported three kid’s bikes and a push scooter were taken from the residence overnight. All the items were recovered later in the day.

Tuesday, April 15
• Officers are looking for a white sedan that was involved in a hit and run collision across from the post office around 3:30 p.m. The sedan, driven by a man, allegedly struck the bumper of a 2006 Toyota Avalon that was parked and occupied by a passenger. The collision caused $200 in damage to the Toyota’s bumper.

• A 44-year-old Anacortes woman reported being assaulted by a 48-year-old woman in the parking lot of Anacortes Middle School just before 4 p.m. The woman said she did not want to prosecute and just wanted the incident on record. Officers contacted the other woman who also did not want to prosecute. It appeared the incident did not rise to the level of an assault.

• An officer spotted a 32-year-old Anacortes man driving near 12th Street and Commercial Avenue and recognized him from previous contacts. The man had several outstanding warrants for domestic violence and a felony warrant for trafficking in stolen property. He was arrested and booked into jail.

• Officers were called to the 1900 block of 24th Street after a 39-year-old man refused to leave a residence where his 18-year-old daughter is residing. Officers arrived and checked the daughter’s welfare before asking the man to leave the property.

Wednesday, April 16
• A 21-year-old Oak Harbor man was hospitalized after his 1994 Honda Accord left the road and struck a tree while northbound on A Avenue at 37th Street around 6 a.m. The investigation is continuing.

• A 14-year-old girl is facing charges of furnishing alcohol to a minor and possession of alcohol after the girl allegedly brought a mixture of several different liquors to school in a soda pop bottle and gave it to a 14-year-old boy as a birthday present. The boy apparently consumed the liquor and became ill. An officer was summoned to the school just before 10 a.m. and contacted the students and parents. The boy will be charged with minor in consumption of alcohol.

• A 57-year-old Anacortes man was cited for improper backing after his 2001 Chevrolet truck collided with a 2006 Chevrolet on 26th Street near M Avenue just after noon. The truck was backing out of a parking spot that was adjacent to the roadway.

Thursday, April 17
• An employee of a grocery store in the 1500 block of Commercial Avenue reported a man left the store without paying for a case of beer and got into the passenger seat of a car in the parking lot. An employee followed the man out of the store and confronted him around 5:15 p.m. The woman driver told the man to give the beer back. The employee took the beer and called police. Officers cited him for theft.

Friday, April 18
• A 60-year-old East Sound woman may have fallen asleep at the wheel of her 2002 Ford Explorer after exiting the ferry around 3 p.m. Her vehicle left the roadway on Ferry Terminal Road and collided with a guardrail. The woman was cited for negligent driving.

• A 21-year-old Friday Harbor man was cited for following too close after his 1998 Toyota Forerunner collided with a 2009 Toyota Corolla driven by a 20-year-old Sedro-Woolley woman. The collision occurred at the intersection of 12th Street and Commercial Avenue around 6:15 p.m. The Corolla was about to turn right onto Commercial Avenue when it was stuck from behind by the Forerunner. There were no injuries.

• A 34-year-old Stanwood man was arrested on suspicion of domestic assault and turned over to Stanwood police, where the incident allegedly occurred. An officer on routine patrol saw the man standing next to his truck in the parking lot of a marina around 9 p.m. The officer recognized the vehicle description as matching an earlier bulletin from Stanwood. The man was taken into custody without incident.

Saturday, April 19
• Police responded to a complaint of a fight behind an establishment in the 400 block of Commercial Avenue around 1:20 a.m. Fifteen to 20 people were in the alley when officers arrived. Officers identified the possible instigators and dispersed the crowd.

• An officer on patrol saw a 1999 Dodge Intrepid driving with its headlights off at the intersection of 41st Street and H Avenue around 1:30 a.m. The officer tried to stop the vehicle but it continued southbound on Heart Lake Road and crossed the center line before coming to a stop. The car then rolled back toward the officer’s car. The officer told the driver to put the car in park and set the parking brake, which he eventually did. The driver appeared very intoxicated and allegedly unable to perform physical sobriety tests. He was arrested and additional alcohol and a small amount of marijuana was reportedly found in his vehicle. He was transported to the office for a Breathalyzer test.
