MOUNT VERNON — Everything from ice cream to kittens can be found at the Downtown Mount Vernon Street Fair, which begins today.

The annual event, which coincides with the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival and is now in its 24th year, will fill historic downtown with 170 craft and food vendors and nonprofit exhibitors from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Purrfect Pals will have kittens for adoption, live music can be heard starting at 1 p.m. all three days, and a magician and Frisbee decoration station are planned for kids.

The street fair, which is hosted by the Downtown Business Community, is expected to draw 15,000 to 30,000 visitors and artists from eight states.
