MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon High School P.E. teacher and head football coach Jaxon Schwiekert was arrested Tuesday for investigation of domestic violence, according to a statement from the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office.

A third party reported a domestic violence complaint at about 10:05 a.m., according to the statement. A Skagit County deputy spoke to the victim and a preliminary investigation resulted in Schweikert’s arrest.

Schweikert was arrested during the school day at the high school, according to Skagit County Jail records.

He was booked into jail for investigation of fourth-degree domestic violence assault, the statement from the Sheriff’s Office said. The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the case.

David Anderson, executive director of human resources at the Mount Vernon School district, said the alleged crime does not involve students or other school staff.

The district awaits further investigation of the case before it will decide whether Schweikert will be placed on administrative leave, Anderson said.

Schweikert has worked for the school district for three years, according to records from the human resources office.
