Innovative ideas win recognition
BELLEVUE, WA. Crest Construction, Inc. of Mount Vernon was recently awarded Washington Aggregates and Concrete Association’s 2009 Excellence in Concrete Award in the ICF Commercial Structures category. Each year, W.A.C.A. formally recognizes professional accomplishments in the outstanding use of concrete throughout Washington. Crest Construction was first among entries from around the State.
The Project, the Island Hospital Sleep Wellness Center in Anacortes, represented a major success for Crest Construction utilizing insulating concrete forms (ICF). Congratulations to the team of Mike and Brian Ruthford - Crest Construction, and Skagit Readymix – supplier of the ICF forms and concrete.
The ICF method of construction was chosen for the Sleep Wellness Center for its superior qualities versus typical building methods. Because the center requires a quiet and healthy environment, insulating concrete forms were a natural choice as the structure is 75%-85% quieter than ordinary construction, and the atmosphere is much improved. Also, by using concrete and ICF’s, yearly heating and cooling costs to the clinic will be significantly reduced - up to 70%. As added benefits, mold, earthquake, wind, fire, and pest issues are greatly lessened or eliminated.
Crest Construction is a full service commercial/industrial contractor offering complete design-build services with in-house licensed engineers located in Mt. Vernon. Skagit Readymix is a locally owned, concrete and gravel company offering a diverse line of products such as ICF’s, decorative concrete products and the Redi-Rock Wall System.
