Skagit Publishing has launched a new annual publication showcasing all of Skagit County that will be distributed around the region beginning in March.
The Skagit County Newcomers and Visitors Guide will be a once-a-year product that will encourage tourism, serve as a newscomers guide for people looking to relocate here and reacquaint residents with all the communities, events and attractions in Skagit County.
The company, drawing on its decades of experience in special publications, is ready to improve on the former MacGregor publications and fill a void in the marketplace.
“We’re excited about our ability to deliver premium content at prices well below what’s been offered in the past,” said Vallerie Feltus, Skagit Publishing advertising director. “We have the editorial, photography, production, printing, distribution and advertising resources to do the job better than anyone — and we can link our publication with our Web site, go.skagit.com, the most visited Web site in the county.”
Feltus said 100,000 copies will be distributed. Distribution outlets will include county and regional visitor centers, state ferries, motels and hotels and tourist destinations. Copies will also be inserted in the Skagit Valley Herald.
The guide will have new maps, plenty of pictures from the Herald’s award-winning staff of photographers and information on schools, government and health care along with demographic profiles.
“It will be as useful to longtime residents as it is to visitors and newcomers,” Feltus said. “I know families will be holding on to this and using it all year.”
A companion guide to Anacortes will also be published. Distribution will be 50,000, including insertion in the Anacortes American.
“Both guides should be extremely attractive to advertisers,” said American Publisher Jack Darnton. “Anacortes is a unique market, and we know there’s a need for a publication that reaches out to all the people visiting and those thinking about moving here. We’re ready to partner with the Chamber and make this an outstanding product that meets the chamber’s needs and advertisers’ needs at very competitive prices.”
The guides are being marketed extensively throughout the county, and the initial reception from advertisers has been very positive, said Deb Bundy, Skagit Publishing display advertising manager.
“Our track record on this kind of project is very strong,” Bundy said. “People know we will be producing an attractive, effective publication.
