Anacortes’ wastewater treatment plant has again received an Outstanding Performance Award from the state Department of Ecology for achieving full compliance with its water quality permits.

Anacortes is one of 125 wastewater treatment plants in Washington to earn the award.

Ecology evaluated more than 300 plants operating to determine how they were meeting the state pollution limits, monitoring and reporting requirements, spill prevention planning, pretreatment, and operation demands outlined in their permits.
