COVID-19 cases are climbing again in Skagit County.
The state Department of Health reported 224 new cases of COVID-19 in Skagit County for the five days running June 19-23.
It’s the most new cases since 549 were reported for a five-day Sunday through Thursday period in early February and puts the county’s count over 200 for the first time since mid-February.
At Island Health, there were 27 new positive cases between Monday, June 20, and Monday, June 27. There were also four new hospitalizations in that same time period.
From June 19-23, there was one new COVID-19 death and two new hospitalizations in Skagit County, according to the state Department of Health.
Through June 23, Skagit County has had 212 COVID-19 deaths and 1,211 hospitalizations since the first case was confirmed here in March 2020.
