A woman in her 60s was taken to Island Hospital for a mental health evaluation Saturday after she allegedly stabbed three people in the bar at San Juan Lanes Bar & Grill.
The three were stabbed with scissors in the shoulders or upper back, but their wounds were not considered serious and they were treated at the scene by EMTs, Anacortes Police Department Capt. Dave Floyd said.
Floyd said the woman is known to police and has mental health issues, but has not been violent in the past. The attack, at about 8:15 p.m., appeared to be random.
“She just walked in and started stabbing people,” Floyd said. “Someone managed to get the scissors from her.”
The woman was still present when police arrived.
Floyd said the woman faces criminal charges.
