Skagit County is helping with the rebuild of the trestle on the Tommy Thompson Trail.
Crews should start on construction work on the trestle, which burned in a fire in August, at the end of this week. During construction, the causeway between the Fidalgo Bay RV Park and the trestle will be closed, Mayor Matt Miller said during an Anacortes City Council meeting Monday.Â
The council voted to accept a $10,000 donation from Skagit County to help with the project.
Much of the rest of the project will be paid for by community donations. The Anacortes Parks Foundation is collecting money to help pay for the repairs.
Other organizations are helping with the funding effort.
This month, at the Rockfish Grill, a "Bridge the Gap" pale ale is helping bring in money for the project.
