Bellingham resident Alex Ramel announced his candidacy Saturday for a state House of Representatives seat representing the 40th Legislative District.
The seat is currently held by Rep. Kristine Lytton, who is not running for re-election.
Ramel, who describes himself as a clean energy organizer, said in a news release he has a history of working with small businesses and governments to promote energy efficiency and to oppose fossil fuels.
"I will work to make sure Washington is a leader in acting on climate change and a full partner with local communities in solving the housing crisis hurting so many people," Ramel said in the release.
The district includes San Juan County, northwest Skagit County — including Anacortes — and southwest Whatcom County.
