Edison Elementary School to celebrate new track

Edison Elementary School and the area community have a new community track thanks to fundraising efforts and donations.

In total, $167,084 was raised by the Edison Outdoor Foundation and school sponsored jog-a-thons.

A grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Edison Elementary School, 5801 Main Ave., Bow.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will be followed by a back-to-school Booster Club barbecue.

Boys & Girls Clubs visit Seattle Art Museum

Members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Skagit County visited the Seattle Art Museum this summer.

“The museum trip offered an exposure to a variety of art within many cultures all over the world, from modern, to traditional, to indigenous all in one space. I enjoyed witnessing their engagement and energy,” Stefano Perruccio, the Clubs’ art specialist, said in a news release.

Tammy Findlay, the Clubs’ director of marketing, also attended.

“One of the first exhibits we viewed was a very large sculpture of an oversized black mouse sitting on top of a man lying in bed all in white,” she said.
