ANACORTES — Anacortes police are searching for a man suspected of robbing a business at gunpoint on Friday.

Police responded shortly after 4 p.m. on Friday to a report of an armed robbery at an espresso stand off Highway 20 near the Sharpes Corner roundabout, according to a post on the Anacortes Police Department's Facebook page.

The male suspect ordered a drink before demanding money from a till, and then produced a handgun and pointed it at the employee, according to the post.

After he was given money from the till, the man drove off in a vehicle. The vehicle, which was determined to have been stolen from Whatcom County, was later recovered.

As of late Saturday afternoon, police were still searching for the suspect. He is described as a heavy-set, white male with brown hair and a beard.

Those with information about the suspect's identity are asked to call the Skagit 911 dispatch center at 360-428-3211 and request to speak with an officer.
